If you’re dreaming of rolling up your sleeves and learning how to craft authentic Tuscan dishes, this Cooking Class at a Tuscan Farm & Local Market Tour might just be the experience for you. While we haven’t personally joined this particular tour, based on reviews and detailed descriptions, it seems to offer a well-rounded taste of Tuscany’s culinary soul.
From shopping in Florence’s bustling Mercato Centrale to cooking amidst beautiful countryside views, it promises a mix of lively market buzz and peaceful farm scenery.
What we love about this experience is the way it combines market exploration with hands-on cooking. You’re not just sitting in a classroom; you’re enjoying local life — meeting bakers, butchers, and farmers, then transforming those ingredients into a meal. Plus, the views from the farmhouse look incredible, and the meal, paired with regional wines, offers a real sense of the Tuscan way of life.
Luca & Erica were THE BEST guides, very knowledgeable and we did not stop laughing the whole day! Luca is a celebrity! The tour bus was beautiful, spacious and clean. I loved the tour around the local food market and buying the food we were going to cook. On arriving at the estate… WOW what a view of the Tuscan hills, the cooking class was really hands on with plenty of wine and we really enjoyed the experience of making fresh pasta from scratch. At the end we sat down to a beautifully set table overlooking the Tuscan Hills and enjoyed a sumptuous 3 course meal we prepared ourselves. Thank you Luca & Erica for a very memorable day!
An excellent day Luca was AMAZING- the food we cooked was sensational. Would recommend to any traveler.
This cooking class with Luca and Erika, in a stunning location, was one of my highlights from my time in Italy, I would highly recommend it. Luca was both hilarious and a brilliant teacher, and Erika was so encouraging and kind, and all of the food the group made together was delicious. As someone who is not a confident cook I learnt so much and really enjoyed the day, and have the confidence now to try making tagliatelle back home. Thank you Luca and Erika!
A potential consideration is the tour’s physical demands. The experience involves walking through a busy market and uneven farm surfaces, so it might not be suitable for those with mobility issues or wheelchair users. Also, the tour is not suitable for children under 8, so families with younger kids may want to look elsewhere.
This tour is best suited for food lovers who enjoy a mix of culture, scenery, and convivial cooking. If you’re after an immersive, memorable experience that combines learning, eating, and drinking in stunning surroundings, this could be a great pick.

Our time during the tour was both entertaining and educational. We both learned about the history of the food in Tuscany and how to prepare our dishes. Other cooking classes have left me feeling like I could have learned more, not here, I felt like our teachers Luca and Erika thoroughly explained every step of our meal, while providing entertainment with showing their personalities. We will definitely take another class and cannot wait to see what we learn next time!

Fun day with Luca and Erika. So much good, laughter, education, and wine. It was so fun, one of our favorite days
Hosts like Luca and Erica (or Carmela, in some groups) create a lively, encouraging atmosphere, with plenty of laughter and stories.
Cooking the Dishes
You’ll learn to craft authentic Italian pasta from scratch, using freshly laid eggs and traditional techniques. The process of making pasta by hand is both satisfying and educational, often praised by travelers as a real highlight. Alongside pasta, you’ll prepare a classic ragù, bruschetta with farm-fresh tomatoes and olive oil, and later, Tuscan roast pork with herbs and roasted potatoes.
The meal prep is paced well, with breaks to enjoy a glass of Chianti or regional wine. One review remarked, “The food we cooked was sensational,” and many say they walk away with new confidence in their culinary skills. The guides like Luca frequently share tips that make recreating these dishes at home much easier — a practical benefit for food lovers.

This tour is ideal for foodies who enjoy hands-on activities and learning new skills in a relaxed setting. It’s perfect if you want to experience the local market vibe and then cook in a beautiful rural environment. The scenic views and regional wines make it suitable for those who appreciate good food and wine in a peaceful, picturesque setting.
This is our second Walkabout Tours experience and like the first it was exceptional. Guides Luca and Lucia were fantastic and gave us lots of laughs. The meal we made was exquisite and wine flowed as freely as you liked during the day. The farmhouse is literally 10 mins from Florence but you are in the Tuscan countryside with its signature rolling hills, olive and cypress trees.
NOTHING!! The entire experience was absolutely amazing and nothing short what was expected and over exceeded expectations!! Luca was an absolute blast as a cooking guide. My wife and I would not only take this class again but recommend it to ANYONE!! THIS IS A MUST DO IN FLORENCE/TUSCANY.
The food was excellent and our guide (Luca) was very entertaining. The only drawback was the group was too large (24). Not everyone had an opportunity to participate in preparing the food.
If you’re traveling with children over 8, they might enjoy the experience too, but younger kids or those with mobility challenges might find the uneven surfaces and busy market less comfortable. The tour is mainly designed for adults or older teens with an interest in cooking and local culture.
