If you’re dreaming of exploring Croatia’s coast on your own terms, this private boat tour from Split or Trogir might catch your eye. While we haven’t personally been on this exact trip, the reviews and details paint a pretty appealing picture of what you can expect: a tailored day out that hits the spots you care about most, with a boat skipper to handle the logistics and share local tips.
What we really like about this experience is the flexibility it offers. You’ll get to choose the destinations you want to visit, whether it’s the famous Blue Cave or the lively Hvar Island. Plus, the fact that snorkeling gear and bottled water are included adds to the laid-back vibe.
On the flip side, a potential downside is the extra costs — specifically the mandatory skipper fee and fuel surcharge — which can add up and make the overall price feel a bit steeper than the initial quote.
Really enjoyed our boat trip. Duško was great and made it a lot of fun! We also opted for a customised itinerary, which made the experience even more special. Thanks!
It’s a great experience but it wasn’t “customized”, we wanted to go to Hvar and Blue Cave but they told us it was too far. Also the experienced will be better if you provide towels or maybe letting the client know they need to carry some. They rush us a lot to leave the boat. Lack of organization and communication
I didn’t like the fact that had to pay seperate for captain and fuel especially the fuel as you do t really know the real value also boat shower water finished after 2 showers so didn’t fill water in tank but Martin captain was a nice guy and took care of us well nice day out
This tour suits travelers who appreciate a customized experience and want to avoid large group tours. It’s especially good for those who value knowing they have a dedicated skipper navigating their preferred spots — whether that’s swimming at secret beaches or sightseeing at famous caves. If you’re after a flexible, private day on the water, this could be a solid choice.

The Itinerary Breakdown
The tour’s outline lists several stops, but it’s important to recognize that the actual route is entirely flexible. Here’s a rundown of the key spots you might visit, along with what makes each special:
Blue Lagoon / Krknjasi Bay
A classic Croatian swimming and snorkeling spot, probably the most popular of the stops. The clear waters and gentle coves make it an ideal place to relax and dip in. One reviewer loved the “really nice swimming and snorkeling stops,” highlighting how this spot offers a perfect escape into nature.
We had a great time on the boat tour! Ivan was a super nice and easygoing skipper, which made the trip really enjoyable. The music was awesome too. Highly recommend!
Ivan (skipper) was lovely. The boat was great and his music choice excellent! His lunch recommendation was spot on (on Brac) and the coves we were taken to were great locations for swimming.
Our family of 5 had an amazing day with Dusko. The water was amazing and the views were breathtaking. Enjoyed our lunch and will book again next year when we return to Split.
Blue Cave
This famous natural wonder is often a highlight, with its shimmering blue waters. The tour’s flexibility means you can choose whether to visit it, but it’s typically a key part of the Croatian coast experience. Some reviews noted they couldn’t go to the Blue Cave due to distance — so it’s worth discussing with your skipper if this is a must-see.
Hvar Island
Known for lively towns and historical charm, Hvar is a favorite for many visitors. You might spend an hour there, exploring or grabbing a coffee, as some reviews suggest. The ability to customize means you could also choose a quiet corner or a lively restaurant.
Komiza
Located on Vis Island, Komiza is a charming fishing village that offers a more laid-back vibe compared to Hvar. It’s a lovely spot for a quick visit or a relaxed lunch.
Solta Island
Less touristy, Solta offers peaceful nature and quiet beaches. A good choice if you want a calm, scenic stop away from the crowds.
Scenery and location of visiting snorkel sites were breathtaking. Be careful with the pricing, we realized after that fuel was NOT included which may have swayed us differently due the overall cost. Driver was lovely but did need to tell him to slow down a few times so we didn't lose any passengers off the front 😉 and the lunch spot he picked as absolutely fabulous.
The whole day was perfect. We enjoyed the entire day and highly recommend a private boat tour while in Trogir. Dusko was our skipper, he is a very skilled and knowledgeable captain. Oh, and fun!
My family and I booked this trip last minute yesterday. We received confirmation in the evening with all the details (where to catch the boat & our skipper's contact information). We got in touch with Ivan (our skipper) in the morning through whatsapp and he was ultra responsive and professional; we felt this was going to be a great guide immediately. He picked us up in front of the Ambassador Hotel (perfect spot to board the boat). The boat was super clean and literally almost new. Ivan asked us what we wanted to do and created the perfect day for us. He took us to a really good restaurant on an island named Turanj (highly recommend). We felt well taken cared and safe at all times. We canno…
Zlatni Rat Beach (Golden Horn)
Famous for its unique shape, this beach is arguably one of Croatia’s most recognizable spots. An hour here gives you a chance to swim, sunbathe, or walk along the shore.
Stiniva Cove
A beautiful, secluded cove with cliffs and crystal waters — great for a swim or some photos. Several reviews mention this as a highlight for its natural beauty.
What’s Included and What’s Not
The good news is that snorkeling equipment and bottled water are provided, making a day on the water more comfortable. You’ll also have private transportation, which means no noisy crowds or rushed schedules.
However, additional costs include a €100 fee for the skipper — a standard practice, but one that should be budgeted for. The fuel surcharge can also be significant, with some travelers noting a €400 bill, which is a big consideration if you’re trying to keep costs predictable.
The best! Really perfect boat and our guide was the coolest! A must in Croatia to get to know places that you wouldn't normally go to. Highly recommend it!
Luka the tour guide was very patient and he recommended the best beaches to swim and towns to walk. The boat was beautiful and very confortable. 100% recommended
We had an awesome day! Our guide was friendly and modified the day to suite our needs. He made reservations at a wonderful restaurant. Best meal so far! A must do!
Lunch isn’t included, so you might want to plan for meals either ashore or bring some snacks onboard. The tour’s flexibility means your skipper can help with restaurant recommendations, but it’s worth noting that food expenses are separate.
What Travelers Say

The reviews are a mixed bag, with many highlighting the expertise and friendliness of the skippers like Ivan and Dusko. One reviewer said, “Ivan was a super nice and easygoing skipper, which made the trip really enjoyable,” which is a helpful reminder that your experience can hinge on the guide’s attitude.
Many travelers love the stunning scenery and great swimming spots. “The water was amazing and the views were breathtaking,” noted one. Others point out that the customization made their day memorable, with one saying, “Duko made it a lot of fun and helped us plan our itinerary.”
That said, some reviews mention organizational issues or feeling rushed, especially at the end of the trip. A few also expressed surprise at the additional fuel costs, which sometimes caused frustration.
Excellent skipper, very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed seeing the islands, our skipper had great recommendations for lunch
We had a great time with Toni. We put ourselves in his safe hands, and were glad we did. He took us to amazing spots, Trogdir, Solta, and the Blue Lagoon. We had coffee in Trogdir, dinner in Solta, and Mojitos at the lagoon. Toni was really friendly, and cheerful; he felt like our friend more than our skipper. We had a great day, and when it came to pay the fuel, it was quite reasonable.
Skipper Goran was perfect for us. He made a custom itinerary to fit our needs. Beautiful day on the Adriatic.
Who Should Book This Tour?

If you’re someone who loves the idea of tailoring your own day on the water, this tour fits well. It’s perfect if you want personalized attention and don’t mind paying extra for the skipper and fuel. It’s also suited for travelers who prefer a private experience over large, scheduled group tours.
However, if you’re on a strict budget or prefer a fully fixed itinerary with all costs included upfront, you might find this option less ideal. It’s worth having a clear idea of what spots you want to see and discussing these with your skipper beforehand.
