Martin S
We had a wonderful day with Jana! She picked us up at the hotel, and we saw the highlights of Bergen on the way out of town. We had some lovely short hikes to the waterfalls and petroglyphs. Lunch at farm was very tasty. And of course the views of the fjords were amazing. The snacks and drinks we had on the ferry were the icing on the cake! It was a great start to our trip. Thank you so much!
Martin L
We had a wonderful full day of seeing so many special sites. Our guide was fantastic and took us to places not usually visited. He was very knowledgeable and a very safe driver.
Barbara S
Absolutely perfect tour! Janna was on time, friendly, highly informative, patient with all of our questions and made sure we all saw and did the best of Bergen. The numerous fiords we saw were gorgeous. The short hike to the waterfalls were easy and beautiful. The lunch at Annalise’s farm was idyllic and very tasty. Janna’s driving was impeccable. The day was the best day of our trip. Thank you!!!!

One thing to consider is the price — at just over $1,200 per group (up to 7 people), it’s a fair chunk of change, but for a full, custom day with a guide, many find it well worth it.

This tour is best suited for travelers who want an intimate, in-depth look at Norway’s coast and fjords without the hassle of self-driving or sticking to a rigid schedule. It’s especially great if you value comfort, local stories, and unique photo opportunities — and it’s suitable for those traveling in a small group who want to avoid large, crowded tours.

The Starting Point: Bergen

Your adventure begins in Bergen, the historic harbor city that dates back to 1070. While you won’t necessarily stop here for long, your guide will pass by some of Bergen’s key landmarks, weaving in snippets of history and culture. It’s a good chance to get a quick feel for the city that’s the launchpad for exploring the fjords.

Crossing Sørfjorden and Trengereid

Soon after leaving Bergen, you’ll travel along Sørfjorden, a saltwater inlet encasing Osterøy Island — the largest inland island in Northern Europe. This route offers a peek at a natural phenomenon unique to the area. The drive through Osterfjord’s South fjord is scenic, and while the stop here is brief, the views are worth it.

Next, your guide will take you along Route #7, a renowned scenic road called Hardangervegen. This stretch is considered an attraction in itself, famous for its mountains, lakes, and waterfalls. Expect multiple photo stops here, including at Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen, two waterfalls that are highlights of the day.

The Waterfalls: Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen

Fossen Bratte, standing tall at 259 feet, offers a memorable sight. The roar of the water and the spray make for a sensory-rich experience — don’t miss walking down to the base if you can, as many reviews mention how invigorating it is to stand close to the cascading water.

Vlad was lovely. Extremely knowledgeable and professional. Really lovely guide for the whole trip. We saw all the points that we wanted to see. We also got great tips from Vlad as to what else to see in Bergen. Overall, it was a lovely day and ideal for a family with a little kid as we had our toddler with us. The waterfalls were amazing.
Deborah K
We recently took this tour and Vlad was our tour guide. He was fantastic He was very informative about the past and present times of Norway. Like a walking history book! The most important thing however is that Vlad made us feel very comfortable and always looked out for our safety. He played Norwegian music in the car and explain the origin. We had a lovely Norwegian lunch and Vlad even brought a hot drink and cookies for us to enjoy on the ferry. All the makings of a perfect day!

Not far behind is Steinsdalsfossen, where you can walk behind the falling water without getting wet — a fun and unique perspective. Many guests love getting up close to these natural wonders, with one reviewer noting, “The waterfalls were amazing,” and recommending the walk behind the waterfall for a special view.

Traveling Along the Hardangerfjord

Hardangerfjord, the second-longest fjord in Norway, is the tour’s centerpiece. The drive along its shores offers postcard-worthy vistas — small farms, quaint villages, lush greenery, and towering mountains. Your guide will point out fruit farms, which are famous in this region, especially during summer when berries and apples are in season.

One of the real treats here is reaching Vangdal, where you’ll get a view of petroglyphs from the Stone Age and Bronze Age, accessible after a short, moderate walk. Guests have appreciated these stops, describing them as “making the trip extra special,” and giving a sense of how Norway’s history and landscape intertwine.

Lynette C
Vlad is personable, articulate (in several languages) and knowledgeable about Bergen and of greater Norway. He was punctual in meeting us at our hotel and drove us in his Tesla, stopping at places you wouldn’t find on your own, all the while narrating almost non-stop! We learned so much! Best 6 hours we spent during our weekend in Bergen. He took us to a delightful farm for a home-made lunch, one of the many off-the-beaten-path stops included in his scenic itinerary. He also brought snacks and refreshments for us. And when we forgot an item in his car, he brought it to our hotel early the next day, and even offered to drive me to the airport! Thinking back, we had such an extensive o…

Had a wonderful day exploring Bergen, the Fjords and the mountains! Val was a wonderful driver and guide. Despite the winter weather, he suggested things for us to do that weren’t on the original itinerary but were real hidden gems! Highly recommend if you have a day in Bergen! We were on a cruise and he came to the cruise terminal to pick us up and dropped us off!
Riley T
Wow what an epic experience. One of my favorite days in Norway. I wish I could stay for another day or more.

Mundheim, a small village along the fjord, offers a glimpse into local life, but the real adventure is yet to come: crossing the Fusafjord by ferry. This 15-minute ride allows you to leave the vehicle and enjoy a different perspective of the fjord — many reviews mention how relaxing and scenic the ferry crossing is.

The Fjord Crossing and Return to Bergen

After disembarking the ferry, the drive continues through Osøyro before heading back to Bergen. The route offers plenty of opportunities to marvel at the coastal scenery, with small villages and fruit farms dotting the landscape. The tour wraps up after a full day of exploring, providing a comprehensive look at the area’s natural beauty and cultural highlights.
