If you’re heading to Sorrento and want to get a feel for its citrus-growing roots, a guided tour of a historic lemon grove is a wonderful option.

We haven’t personally taken this tour, but from the glowing reviews and detailed descriptions, it’s clear that it offers a genuine taste of local tradition, with a side of stunning scenery. It’s especially appealing if you’re into food, agriculture, or simply love peaceful, lush environments.

What we really appreciate about this experience is the knowledgeable guides who keep things engaging but not overwhelming, and the delicious tastings of lemon-based products that follow the walk. Plus, the setting itself—an 8,000sqm citrus orchard right in the middle of Sorrento—is a visual treat.

Really cute tour. Perfect amount of time. The lemon farm is gorgeous. It was about an hour total, they provide a little board at the end! Really enjoyed. Lots of photo ops and a little gift shop too

We enjoyed the informative tour of the lemon grove and the delicious tasting afterwards. The food, wine, and limoncello were tasty, the atmosphere was quaint, and the staff was friendly. I would suggest wearing bug spray as there were many mosquitoes. And if you are from the U.S. and hoping to ship some delicious olive oil or limoncello home, you will be disappointed to learn that La Limonaia is not presently shipping to the U.S.

Great introduction to the lemon and orange culture of the region. Great lemon based set plate lunch too! Recommended for singles and families

Generally, it’s best suited for those looking for a light, culturally rich outing rather than a full-day adventure.

A really nice and fun cultural experience to do whilst in Sorrento. We learned so much about oranges and lemons and how they are grown there right down the appearance of the leaves. I would highly recommend it, as they have evening options and it’s something nice to fit in at the end of a day to learn a lot, taste delicious lemon treats and make the most of your time in Sorrento. We really enjoyed the lemon marmalade, cookies, lemon olive oil, candied lemon peel etc, it was all delicious.

We had a group of 5 people, we found the tour very beautiful and interesting. It was 45 minutes long…which was perfect, and the tasting was wonderful!

The Drawbacks

Short Duration: At approximately 45 minutes, the tour may feel a bit brief if you’re expecting an immersive, in-depth exploration. Some reviews describe it as "perfect" for a quick visit, but if you love long, detailed cultural experiences, you might want to supplement it with other activities.

Limited Depth: While the guide is knowledgeable, the focus is on a general overview rather than deep historical or agricultural insights. If that’s what you’re after, you might find this a bit light. One reviewer even called it "meh," but quickly clarified that it was because they expected more depth than what was offered.

Weather Dependency: Since the tour takes place outdoors, poor weather can impact the experience. Cancellations due to bad weather are possible, but the provider offers a full refund or rescheduling if that happens.

No Private Transport Included: This is purely a walking tour, so if you prefer a shuttle or private transport, you’ll need to arrange that separately.

Who Should Consider This Tour?

Food lovers and those interested in agriculture will especially enjoy the tasting and the insights into citrus cultivation. It’s also good for families or groups who want a fun, straightforward activity that combines walking, learning, and tasting. However, if you’re seeking a lengthy, deeply historical or agricultural deep dive, you might find this tour too brief.
